Who am I?

Hi, my name is Alicia Baric and on this page you can find a lot of general information about who I am, but also what I can bring to a workplace as your colleague!

am a happy person who was raised in the scout movement with the motto "a scout meets difficulties with a cheerful disposition." And even if a problem or event arises that frustrates me, I see it as a challenge to solve the problem. Even if a handful of grumbles may come out of me during the work time, we will find a solution sooner or later.

You will almost always find me engrossed in some podcast, Youtube video or playlist when I am left to do independent work, but if I need to be available, I make sure to leave one ear out of the headphones to hear if anyone needs me!

Me as your colleague

I'm the colleague who, on a hot summer day, completely unprovoked, goes around kidnapping water bottles to fill them up, then puts them back in the exact same place so that no one even notices.

But if you notice, I'll do the classic *stop, smile contentedly* before continuing to put your bottle back and pretend I'm invisible. If you asked what I was doing, I would have answered: "shhh, I'm not here." in a half whisper. And sneak away. With a five-year-old's giggle. Something that always delivers joy, gratitude and laughter from my colleagues.

But I'm also the one who asks someone to smell or taste something and gets the answer "no, what have you done with it?". There are two sides to a coin, you know.

I'm not afraid to show off myself and during the years XXL still had a clean shoe department I got to work two Halloweens there and of course you have to be "dressed up"! Especially when you spent most of the shift among the children's and junior shoes, no sour faces there!

There is a form of inventory system called "Radio Frequency Identification", abbreviated RFID, which XXL chose to implement in its stores in 2022.

In connection with the implementation of this, a new store in Sickla was also to be opened and since the products were not yet delivered pre-tagged, staff were needed to tag all the products that were sent to the store. For some reason, I found it easy to line up x number of products, scan them, go to the printer, pick up the tags, double-check the configuration numbers on the products and tags before placing the sticker (tag) in an appropriate place on the product label, and do this on over fifty thousand products in a week. So much fun, that I also volunteered to do it in my own store when we implemented the same system, and go up to Skellefteå, which was to open, and do that too.

In total, I have tagged three stores and honestly, I flagged to my boss that during my studies I could absolutely do it again if XXL opened another store during the leave of absence. (Sep 2023 - May 2025)

So doing the same task day in and day out, for weeks on end doesn't bother me. I'm tagged to tag!

(RFID can be simply described as a smart sticker, "tag", that encodes an individual ID number to a specific product. This allows you to more easily take inventory in your stores by scanning the entire store and all tags to get the correct balance.)

High and low

What is your strength?

My strength that affects me the most is my endless imagination and ability to get ideas from anything or take big mental leaps from one thing to another to see new possibilities, while testing my way in my brain instead of reality.

My strength that affects others is that I love helping others when I can! Whether it's as little as putting someone's lunch box in the microwave, technical problems or providing support or advice if needed. It's totally okay to ask the same question several times! It's just me who hasn't found the right way to explain it to you yet!

What is your weakness?

A weakness that affects me is that I can easily get caught up in a task or project and miss the passage of time, not to the point where I miss meetings or similar things. More like "oh I've been sitting still for 6 hours and forgot to eat or drink."

A weakness that affects others is that I have a brain that works at high speed, takes long leaps and as a result sometimes forgets that others don't have a similar brain and thinks it has made similar steps in its brain. Which means that I sometimes have to stop and explain my thought process to people because we went from milk to toilet paper without stopping.

What color are you?

IIn connection with the leadership training "Value-based leadership" that I took in 2020 - 2021, we did an individual "IPU Profile Analysis" where you had to answer several questions to then land in which color you are, both adapted and in basic behavior. In the adapted behavior I got Red/64, Yellow/35, Green/63 & Blue/58. While in basic behavior I got Red/64, Yellow/32, Green/52 & Blue/71. Which means that in my personal behavior and who I am in a situation where I do not need to adapt to the group, I am blue (71) while in situations where I need to adapt for the group, I am mostly red (64) with one point more than green (63).

Blue people are people who are orderly, meticulous, logical and methodical.

Red people are people who are ambitious, determined, independent and result-oriented.

Green people are people who are patient, caring, stable, and relaxed.

Yellow people are people who are enthusiastic, open, outgoing, and spontaneous.

I'm quite happy being a mix of red and green in a position where I lead or support a group. And the blue part keeps me structured and time-conscious.

What level of organized are you?

I fully understand if an employer does not want the level of organization that I am at, as it can be perceived as time-consuming. Therefore, I adapt to the workplace's organizational wishes. That said, I have a program/website where I fill in snacks, fruit and new chip flavors (and much more). Links to the website or store I bought from, picture of the product, rating between 1 and 5 and a short description of the flavor. This is also the same place I have my hiking list, which calculates the weight at the same time as I book in them. You simply get the level you want from me. But I get to be completely on my own, well organized. With the joy of planning and structure.

What have you learned most from the Scouts?

Incredible and so much more! I have learned everything from how to lead groups and individuals of all ages to how to arrange small and large events. Understanding each other, cultural hooks, democracy, leading younger, same-age and older people, personal leadership, organizations at a national and international level, project planning, care for our nature, safety and infinitely more! All by and for other ideal members!                                                             I am so happy to have the personal view that you are never finished learning and absorb me like a sponge.

Do you drink coffee?

Nope, not tea either.

What is your base pack at?

About 7.5kg. My tent is maybe a bit heavier than I wanted, but it is a very nice tent and I am happy with it. But the idea of changing to a lighter tunnel tent is haunting me.

(basic pack = everything you carry with you on a longer adventure that is not food or water)

Do you drink energy drinks?

No, there's usually a club called "Alicia shouldn't drink energy drinks". Can more or less turn hyperactivity on and off and already talks slowly so people can keep up.

Best time of year?

Every season offers different things to love and above all different types of adventure opportunities!

In the summer you can enjoy everything nature has to offer.

In the fall we see all the colors changing.

In the winter the snow comes. In the spring everything buds.

I guess I can see the point of enjoying the season you are in, it feels a bit boring to go and yearn for something instead of being where you are!

What do you want to learn right now?

I want to learn; to learn cross-country skates, both from a technical and safety perspective. Get a guide card, "red climbing card". Winter mountain safety and to roll with a kayak. Then I have an ambition to take a hunter's degree to be able to hunt and not be part of the meat industry.

Skis or Snowboard?

Snowboarding, better for the knees. No good knees here. (note, bruises on custom knees are not acceptable)

What do you dream about?

A mountain cabin where I have access to summer and winter adventures, which is also self-sufficient with solar power and rainwater. Hiking, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, climbing, cycling, cross-country skating and more. Maybe a bit capitalist but a smartly designed room/wardrobe for the equipment.
